Time lapse: A luxury hotel is being built here in Crans-Montana.
The Intercontinental Hotels Group is extending its luxury segment to Crans-Montana VS with the new “Six Senses” building. The building was designed by the architectural firm AW2. An impressive time-lapse video gives a glimpse of the building.
The hotel project is currently in the final phase. A total of 95,000 cubic meters of material had to be excavated for the construction pit. A significant part of the excavation involves rock formation. In order to integrate the building into the ground, the slate had to be cleared in places to a height corresponding to six floors.
The volume of concrete for the foundation, frame and floor slabs totaled 18,000 cubic meters. The hotel building, with a total area of 27,000 square meters, was designed by the Parisian architecture firm AW2, directed by Reda Amalou and Stéphanie Ledoux. The opening of the hotel in Crans-Montana is scheduled for the last quarter of 2022.
The “Six Senses” luxury hotel chain is a subsidiary of the Intercontinental Hotels Group. With “The Ritz-Carlton” in Zermatt, the Valais architectural firm is developing another hotel project in the luxury segment.
