AW² designed Surprada’s architecture to frame the beautiful views of the Flims valley and surrounding mountainous environment. The concept involves harnessing the traditional chalet architecture and redesigning it with a contemporary twist. In this way, the building has a unique presence with its metallic envelope that then joins with the more traditional wooden balconies with their large openings. The building’s imprint on a sloping site has been structured around maximising the views and the creation of comfortable, open plan apartments on the inside, complemented by a unique duplex apartment to the south of the site.

Creating a strong dynamic through a total design concept, AW² designed the interiors as a prolongation of the architectural concept. On the inside, the apartments combine a contemporary chalet-style with more industrial touches. Wood, concrete and signature black features create a warm and comfortable environment to relax and kick back after a day of exploring the beautiful surroundings. This natural palette made of soft and neutral tones is used throughout the open plan living space where the interiors are orientated to take advantage of the views. The interior design is a hymn to the local style whilst bringing in a more contemporary aesthetic through the concrete and light industrial style.
